B1 Preliminary / B1 Preliminary for Schools (PET)

B1 Preliminary (PET) is the second subsequent exam among Cambridge English Qualifications exams. It is available in two versions: for children and adolescents – B1 Preliminary for Schools and B1 Preliminary for adults. B1 Preliminary Certificate is a certificate of English proficiency at the B1 level according to the CEFR scale.

B1 Preliminary for Schools / B1 Preliminary (PET) – about the exam

• It is dedicated for candidates whose language level is at B1 according to the CEFR scale
• It tests language skills used in everyday situations; checks understanding of simple texts, the ability to write simple texts in English in the context of well-known subjects and the ability to make simple notes.

B1 Preliminary (PET):

B1 Preliminary consists of the following components:

• Reading: 45 minutes
• Writing: 45 minutes
• Listening: approximately 30 minutes
• Speaking: 12 – 14 minutes

B1 Preliminary exam is also available as B1 Preliminary for Schools, which covers topics adjusted to the interests of school students.
